Head Coach: Tim Suttles - Coach Suttles has led the Track & Field program at MCHS for the past 14 years. He is the Head Boys and Girls Varsity Coach. Coach Suttles is a graduate of Montgomery County and a former Eagle athlete having played football and ran track. Coach Suttles has successfully completed the National Pole Vault Coaches Association's basic pole vault program and earned track & field technical certification from the USTFCCCA - United States Track & Field Cross County Coaches Association. Coach Suttles also holds level 1 coaching certification from USATF - United States Track and Field. Coach Suttles also serves as the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at MCHS. Coach Suttles and his wife, Carmen, have 2 children, Cannon and Avery, both of which are future Eagles. During Coach Suttles' tenure as head coach the boys team has won area championships in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 to go along with an area runner-up finish in 2014. The Eagles also claimed the 2018 state championship under Coach Suttles' direction. Coach Suttles has also seen back to back Area Runner-Up finishes by the Lady Eagles in 2018 and 2019 as well as a region championship for the girls team in 2021. In 2021 the Boys and Girls team claimed state runner up finishes in Class A.
Varsity Assistant: Tyrone Madison - Coach Madison has coached track and field at MCHS for 4 seasons. Coach Madison retired from the United States Army after 20 years of dedicated service and has since been dedicated to the young people in our community. Coach Madison is a former standout high jump athlete as well as a long sprinter. Coach Madison works with athletes in sprints, relays, and the high jump. Coach Madison is a varsity basketball assistant as well as the head middle school football coach. Coach recently graduated from Brewton Parker College and is a business education teacher at MCHS. Coach Madison led the first high jumper to the medal podium for the first time in 25 years in the 2018 season.
Varsity Assistant: Johnnie Sneed - Coach Sneed joined the coaching staff in 2016. He is a former Eagle athlete and was the state champion in the long jump in 1985 as well as the state runner up in the triple jump. In 1986, Coach Sneed was the state runner up in both the long and triple jumps. Even as a championship caliber track athlete, Coach Sneed was a standout baseball and basketball player. He went on to have a successful collegiate career as a long and triple jumper. Coach Sneed works with the long and triple jumpers and has seen one of his jumpers claim a state title in the long jump while leading two different athletes to break the school record in the long jump that he previously held. Each year Coach Sneed has been on the track staff he has seen at least two jumpers place at the GHSA state meet in the horizontal jumps. Coach Sneed is also a varsity basketball assistant.
Middle School Boys & Girls Head Coach/Varsity Assistant: Gabe Gay - Coach Gay took over as the head coach of the middle school girls' track team in 2020. In 2021 both squads won the Oconee River Middle School Conference Championships and the boys team took runner up honors in 2022Coach Gay also serves as an assistant coach for the varsity track teams. Coach Gay serves as the offensive coordinator for the Eagles' varsity football team and coordinates the high school weight room.
